• First Aid and Rescue Skills for Surfers and other water users £80

This workshop is aimed at surfers of all abilities and other ocean users who want to learn the necessary water rescue skills needed to help prevent, recognise and rescue someone in trouble in the water should the need arise. You will learn how to utilise your equipment to hand, perform rescues and provide basic primary aftercare.

This unique one-day practical workshop has been designed by the UK’s longest running lifeguard training company, Water Skills Academy. You will be taught by experienced surf lifeguard trainers – so you’re in good hands! Expect to learn a range of course elements from beach theory and understanding currents, rips and tides, basic first aid and rescue techniques. Attending this workshop will provide a stepping stone to our 5 day surf lifeguard course for those that wish to progress further.

Who Can Participate?

We encourage all water user to come and join us on this one-day workshop. It has been specifically designed for medically non trained surfers, bodyboarders and any ocean users to equip them with the skills to look after themselves and others in the ocean and to make a difference that could save someone lives. This course is open to and appropriate for any surfer or watersports enthusiast

Fitness Requirements

The workshop is open to anyone aged 16+, physically fit, able to swim 50m and paddle a surfboard or bodyboard through the surf

Certification

Each participant will be awarded a Water Skills Academy certificate of attendance.
